Two training paths

Birth Doula Foundations

A three-day intensive covering physiology of labor, comfort measures, positions for tricky labors, communication with providers, and the business of doula work.

  • · Weekend intensives in Red Bank + virtual cohorts
  • · Hands-on comfort-measure labs with experienced mentors
  • · Certification packet guidance and birth-log review

Postpartum Doula & Lactation

Newborn care, feeding support, perinatal mood screening, household rhythms, and overnight-shift skills for the fourth trimester.

  • · Two-day workshop + supervised home-visit practicum
  • · Lactation educator module with case studies
  • · Mentored first clients before solo practice

What certification entails

  1. 1. Foundations course — complete your chosen intensive, in person or virtual.
  2. 2. Reading & reflection — a short, curated list (no thousand-page treadmill).
  3. 3. Attended births or visits — three mentored experiences with written reflections.
  4. 4. Skills review — a final session with Mara before you launch.

Graduates say

I interviewed three trainings and chose Tidehaven for the mentoring. Mara came to my first birth as backup — I have never felt so held while learning.
